Reasonably and accurately selecting the safety factor of the crane wire rope is the primary condition for selecting and calculating the wire rope. It must adhere to the principle of conservation while ensuring stability. When choosing a safety factor, it is believed that the following factors should be considered:
1. Lifting equipment often experiences impacts and vibrations. If the steel wire rope with equipment suddenly stops and starts, the dynamic load is several times greater than the static load. The crane driver always carefully and slowly tightens the steel wire rope before lifting the equipment, so that the tension of the steel wire rope approaches the lifting weight, thereby greatly reducing the dynamic load.
The unloading of cranes in the air has a significant impact on some cranes. If the lanyard breaks and the lifting weight decreases, a serious accident may occur, which may cause some cranes to tilt backwards. When using a crane to flip parts, the impact load on the crane and wire rope is also significant, causing significant damage to the wire rope. The wear, corrosion, and damage caused by jamming can affect the speed of the steel wire rope.


2. The steel wire rope exhibits a chaotic state of stress such as tension, kneading, twisting, and fatigue. The stress of each steel wire rope is different, making it difficult to accurately calculate the uneven stress. The safety factor is related to traction performance, operating methods, and the ratio of pulley and drum diameter to rope diameter.
The safe use of crane wire ropes is crucial. The steel wire rope for cranes is made of high-strength carbon steel wire. Each steel wire rope is separated by several steel wires and twisted into a rope with the same thickness as the plant fiber core. It has the advantages of flat cross-section, high strength, wear resistance, high elasticity, stable high-speed operation, no noise, light weight, reliable operation, and low cost. It is one of the important components of a crane.
